Mounting & Demounting Procedures

The operation of assembly and disassembly of the tire on the rim must be performed by trained and qualified professionals, using the appropriate tools and following the appropriate procedures as thoroughly explained on fitting machines instruction.
Pressurized air used to mount and inflate tires must be always limited and controlled through a maintained pressure reducer.
The non-compliance to right procedures may lead to incorrect assembly of the tire on the rim and the possible bursting of the tire, causing serious injuries to operators.

1. Mounting preparation

Before fitting the tire on the rim, following points must be verified:
• Tire size and characteristics are correct for the vehicle and the application
• Verify that the rim size is approved on "BKT Technical Databook"

Never mix rims with "similar" dimensions (e.g.: 26xTW24B i.p.o. 26,5xAG24.00 and vice-versa)

• Rim must be verified before: use a metallic brush to better clean the surfaces for control. Rims with welded
  reparations, visually deformed or cracked have not to be used.
• In case of a re-mounted tire (not new), this must be controlled internally and externally and repaired if necessary. Do
  not mount tires with clear sign of fatigue effects (e.g.: layers detachments, fatigue cracking, etc.).
• Use only brand new inner tubes (for tube type tires) and air valves (for tubeless tires).
• Lubricate tire's beads and rim seats with proper lubricant as reported on the drawing below (green area). Never use
  solvent or silicone based products


2. Tire fitting

Follow all protection rules as reported on tire fitting machinery instruction.
In case the operator must adjust pressure he must be out of hazardous trajectories.

Tire fitting & inflation without protection cage is highly not recommended.


Agricultural Tires

• Use an inflation device with manometer to control pressure while inflating.
  Never inflate over 2,5 bar(35 psi) to seat tire beads on rim
• If the beads are not correctly seated, deflate the tire, lubricate again the surfaces and inflate. Always control correct
  bead seating on rim after fitting.
• If tire fitting is correct, mount the inner part of the inflation valve and fix the valve with bolt on the rim.
• Finally adjust tire pressure depending on kind of utilization and the load on the tire (see BKT Technical Databook for

3. Tire Removal

Before fitting the tire on the rim, following points must be verified:
• Make sure that the tire is completely deflated removing the valve insert.
• In case of tire showing clear evidences of under inflation usage, scrap the tire and check rim conditions.
  If the fitted tire has to be stored, inflate it at about 0,7 bar and leave it in a dark and cool environment


• An under inflation of tire will result in tread shoulder over wearing and possible fatigue separations/cracking
• An over inflation of tire will increase soil compaction; moreover, shock absorption resistance will dramatically reduce.
• It is NOT RECOMMENDED to mix radial and conventional tire and/or tire with different tread groove depth on the same

Tire Mounting & Demounting Procedure for OTR Tires

• Check for recommended rim and inflation pressure for the tire to be mounted.
• The rim assembly (comprising of drum, bead seating flanges, lock ring) on which tire is to be mounted is inspected
  for any surface flaws. (Ref. photographs nos. 1)
• Ensure for specified " O " ring & tubeless valve, valve core & it's cap.
• "O" ring seating groove must be thoroughly cleaned and lubricated with vegetable soap solution prior to starting all the
• The rim drum with one flange is laid down on wooden or plastic skid without bead seating flanges and lock ring. The
  wooden/plastic block dimensions should be according to rim diameter and its height should be sufficient enough so
  that the sidewall of tire does not touch the ground during mounting. (Ref. photographs no. 1)
• Vegetable soap solution is applied on beads of the tire and also on rim flanges. Both and then brought to the
  mounting platform. ( Ref. photographs no. 2 & 3)
• Tire is laid down onto the rim by tire handler or fork lift and after that the bead seating flange is placed onto the rim
  drum. (Ref. photographs no. 4, 5, 6 &7)
• Bead seating flange is fixed between tire bead and rim drum and then pushed inwards. (Ref. photographs no. 8, 9)
• Now, lock ring is clamped on the rim at the location of lock ring groove on the rim. Lock ring must be clamped firmly
  on the rim. (Ref. photographs no. 10, 11)
• Next, the bead seating ring is pushed and fixed on the rim using lever or bead seater followed by fixing of 'O' ring is put
  in groove. (Ref. photographs no. 12, 13)
• Always use new " O " ring for every attempt of fitment & never use the same " O " ring, once used.
• Now slowly inflate the tire to ( 2 bar ) make the beads apart and get held against rim flanges.
• It is to be ensured that the tire is mounted on rim uniformly which can be verified by matching flange edges with rim centering lines on tire.
• The entire assembly of tire and rim is to be transferred to a cage (close from 3 sides) in which further inflation to the
  specified pressure is to be done. Never inflate the tire in open space as there are chances of fatal accidents due to
  either loose or mismatching of assembly. (Ref. photographs no. 14, 15)
• It must be ensured that the tire is totally deflated before staring for demounting operation.
• Similar operation in reverse sequence is to be followed while demounting the tire from the rim.
